Massachusetts Governor, Charlie Baker signed a paid family and medical leave law on June 28th joining only six other states who have already have signed into law the family and medical leave ruling. California, Washington, New York, Washington DC, New Jersey and Rhode Island join the endeavor to recognize the sacrifice and hard work of caregivers.
The new law offers up to 12 weeks of job protected paid family or medical leave to care for a seriously ill loved one, bond with a new child or cope with a family member’s military deployment. Caregivers to veterans and service members who are sick or injured as a result of their military service, are provided up to 26 weeks of job protected paid family leave – the first state law to allow additional paid time for military caregivers.
